Festivals Programming and Distribution

Candella's Director, Mariela Artiles has extensive experience as a film programmer for International Film Festivals and Exhibitors.

As Programme Manager for Kinofilm, Manchester International Short Film Festival in 2002 and 2003, she oversaw the selection, co-ordination, and print management of 40 programmes - approximately 300 films - per festival. The popular KinoLatino strand was entirely the result of her efforts and expertise. In 2006 the VIVA Spanish and Latin American Film Festival Shorts were Programmed by Mariela Artiles of Candella Films

Since founding Candella, Mariela has specialised in the selection, co-ordination, and distribution of Latin American and Brazilian films, either individually or as part of bespoke film programmes, for international film festivals, cinemas and arts organisations. She is particularly keen to promote, and to make available, films from countries with low rates of film production, and in 2005 was invited to the Marche du Film at Cannes as a buyer.
