Education

We are a small Manchester-based independent production company with a big vision, energy and passion that is igniting community filmmaking and using film to create links between community groups around the world. We show people other cultures through film, so they look back and see their own world with a different perspective.

We give groups the opportunity to work with filmmakers from other countries, to do their course at one of our international locations and to share their stories with community groups around the world. We believe community filmmaking can lead the way in creativity and can achieve cinematic quality.

The World According to Film

The World According To Film is Candella Films' multicultural GMOCN-accredited filmmaking course, combining story-creation and short film production, with the teaching of accredited audio-visual techniques.

It is designed for community-based groups, schools and colleges, and is taught by industry professionals experienced in delivering workshops in community settings, with a teaching ethos that encourages creativity, inclusivity and positive self-awareness.

We will work closely with your group to tailor the course to your requirements. Your options include:

  • Working in Manchester or in one of our international locations
  • Working with a professional director from our international network
  • Working in different formats such as films for mobile phonesr
  • Exploring a historical perspective through our joint course with the North West Film Archive

The course can be tailored for small, medium or large groups. We are also happy to discuss other options, such as our one-day short course (The Senses of Filmmaking) or our external group courses for groups which have only one or two individuals interested in filmmaking. We can also offer group leaders a free practical intro course to experience it for themselves.
